Brussels-based creative runners with a casual vibe and a contagious passion. Whether you’re lacing up for the first time or you’re a seasoned marathoner — you’re one of us.

Who we are

A community before anything else.

Cadence started in 2022 with a handful of runners and one simple idea: running is better together. Four years later, we’re a few hundred strong — every pace, every story, every nationality — meeting four times a week on the roads and the track of Brussels.

Cadence is a non-profit (ASBL), and everyone who makes it run — the pacers who hold the groups, the people behind the events, the app, the merch — does it as a volunteer: everybody shows up because they love it. That’s also why your support, from a CORE membership to a hoodie, goes straight back into the community.

The weekly runs

Four runs, every week.

Three of them are free and open to absolutely everyone — no registration, no level required. Just show up. The fourth, Thursday, is our coached track session (see LANES below). All runs are listed on Strava and in the app.

🏃🏼‍♀️

Tuesday · 19:30 · Place Flagey

—any given tuesday

Our social run through Brussels. Several pace groups, lots of talking, zero pressure — the easiest first run you could pick. Meet 19:15 in front of the church, off at 19:30.

⏱️

Thursday · 20:00 · VUB track

—lanes thursday

Structured track intervals led by professional coaches, in four pace groups. Part of the LANES program — first session free. Meet 19:45, first rep at 20:00.

☕️

Friday · 7:30 · Café de la Presse

—friday coffee run

An easy run before work, ending where every good run should: around a coffee, together. Off at 7:30 from Café de la Presse, Avenue Louise.

☀️

Sunday · 10:00 · Café de la Presse

—sunday LSD

The weekly Long Slow Distance: the long, steady run that builds endurance — and friendships — one stride at a time. Off at 10:00 from Café de la Presse, Avenue Louise.

Your first run

What to expect.

Come a few minutes early and look for the people in the Cadence pacer uniform — they’re the volunteers who lead each group, and pointing newcomers in the right direction is literally their job. Tell them your usual pace (or that you have no idea — also fine) and they’ll put you in the right group.

Every group runs at its announced pace, nobody gets dropped, and most runs end with a drink together. That’s the whole secret, really.

The app

Your Cadence pocket HQ.

The Cadence app is where your membership lives: the events agenda and registrations, your check-ins at runs (a quick tap on an NFC sticker, or your personal QR code), your Miles, your LANES and CORE subscriptions, and your profile.

It’s a web app — nothing to download from a store. Create your account, add it to your home screen, and you’re set.

Miles

Show up, earn Miles.

Every time you check in at a run or an event, you earn Miles — Cadence’s way of noticing the people who show up, week after week. The app keeps your total, your streaks and a monthly Top 10.

Miles aren’t money and you can’t buy them — but they do count: partner gifts, raffles and other rewards go first to the members with the most Miles. CORE members earn 50% more Miles on every run and event.

Going further

Two memberships, both optional.

You can run with Cadence for free, forever. When you want more — structured training, or a deeper tie to the community — there are two ways in.

Performance

LANES

A complete performance pathway, built with the pro coaches of UPerform: the Thursday track session at the VUB (20:00, four pace groups), a personalized weekly program every Sunday evening, strength & nutrition sessions.

  • €20/month — €16 for CORE members
  • First session free: request your trial QR in the app
  • Every level, from first 5K to next PB

Community

CORE

The support membership for those who want to give the community a push — and get the most back from it. One yearly contribution that goes straight into what Cadence builds.

  • €120/year
  • €40 merch gift card, socks, exclusive gems
  • Miles x1.5, priority on events, partner discounts, raffles

The crew

The pacers.

Pacers are the beating heart of every run: volunteers in the Cadence uniform who hold the announced pace, own the route, check everyone in, and make sure nobody — especially not a newcomer — runs alone. If it’s your first time, they’re the ones to find.

The team is deliberately small and renewed every season. Fancy joining it one day? Keep showing up, make people feel welcome around you — and come talk to us at a run.

Community

One WhatsApp, all of Cadence.

Everything social happens in our WhatsApp community — one link to join, then pick the groups you care about. Announcements and —community 💬 and is where everything important lands first; the rest is up to you.

Beyond the runs

Events that unite and ignite.

Cadence is more than weekly runs: shared dinners, parties, challenges, special runs, race trips abroad — even 40-meter sprints against the Borlée brothers. There’s always something coming.

Every event is announced on WhatsApp and listed in the app, where you register (and pay, for the ticketed ones) in a few taps. Popular events sell out fast — CORE members get priority access.

Merch

Minimal by design. Built for the crew.

Tees, hoodies, socks and more — pieces designed as much for the moments around the run as for the run itself. Wearing the mark is the quietest way to say you’re one of us.

Bib exchange

Can’t run? Swap your bib.

Signed up for a race you can’t run any more — or hunting for a bib? Cadence members swap them on our bib exchange, runner to runner: browse what’s for sale, answer runners who are looking for one, or list yours in thirty seconds.

Cadence just puts runners in touch — you agree on the details together and follow the race’s official name-change procedure.

FAQ

First-timer questions.

Do I have to be fast?

No. Every run has several pace groups, each held by a pacer — from very easy to very spicy. You’ll find yours, and nobody gets dropped.

Does it cost anything?

The Tuesday, Friday and Sunday runs are free, always. LANES (the coached track program) and CORE (the support membership) are optional.

Do I need to register before a run?

For the weekly runs, no — just show up. If you like, you can mark yourself as attending on Strava, where every run is listed. For special events, register in the app.

How do I create my account?

Go to app.cadence-athletics.com, tap “Create my account”, then add the app to your home screen.

No matter where you start, just show up and run.

See you Tuesday. Or Thursday. Or Friday. Or Sunday.
